Awa to Maunga Wananga and Hikoi

NAU MAI HAERE MAI KI TENEI WANANGA

24th JANUARY 2016

KEAROA MARAE – APIRANA ROAD – HOROHORO

Tena koutou katoa, nga mihi o te tau hou. Te Runanga o Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara trust invite you to attend our Awa to Maunga wananga and hikoi, at Kearoa Marae, Horohoro, on the 24th of January 2016. This is the first of 2 TARIT funded wananga where we will explore our relationship with the Waikato River. This wananga will include a background of our physical relationship to the Waikato River and a hikoi from the source of the Pokaitu awa, Waikarakia puna, up to the top of our maunga, Horohoro ringa a kahumatamoemoe.

This is the opportunity for iwi members to physically experience our pepeha, to stand on our maunga, see the source of our awa, be at our marae. Note the walk up Horohoro maunga is physically taxing so for those unable to undertake the hikoi, we will set up a base station at the foot of the maunga to enable people to wait for the walking roopu.

We will meet at Kearoa Marae at 9am in the morning and then start travelling to the base of the hikoi from 9:30 – 10:00am.

Registration is essential so please register by 20th January via Kataraina at the Runanga office on 07 343 7153, email nkntadm1n@xtra.co.nz or write to Te Runanga o Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara Trust, PO BOX 716, Rotorua 3040.
