Landscape Technician – Horohoro Native Tree Nursery

Based 16kms south of Rotorua, the Horohoro Native Tree Nursery is looking for a mature and physically fit person for a full-time Landscape Technician position.

The Landscape Technician’s primary role is to provide suitable environments for riparian planting projects alongside riverbanks and waterways as well as planting seedlings and providing on-going plant maintenance if required.  This involves proactive weed management and control using sprays and equipment to clear gorse, blackberry and other weeds before planting.

There will also be opportunities to work in the Nursery and on a farm to provide a good variety of work available.

To be effective in this role, you will:

  • enjoy outdoor work;
  • be proactive and well organised;
  • be health and safety conscious and compliant;
  • have good communication skills;
  • be trained in operating relevant equipment (eg. scrub bars, chainsaws, spraying equipment);
  • have a flexible attitude.

Applicants should be suitably qualified with a minimum of NZ Certificate in Horticulture (General) and NZ Certificate in Agriculture (Infrastructure) along with relevant Growsafe certification in the use of Agri-chemicals. As the Nursery is not on a public transport route, applicants should have a vehicle and a full drivers licence.

Applicants should be able to show initiative, a positive attitude and be responsible for working independently.
