Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara Reserves Trust – Hui

Ngati Kea Ngati Tuara has 18 Māori Reservations under its care.  In the past we have had a set of Reserves trustees for each of these reserves, so we now have 18 sets of trustees, many of whom are now deceased.

We are now proposing that the reserves be amalgamated and managed by one Reserves Trust to look after all these taonga for the enjoyment and benefit of our hapū members into the future.  This proposal will ensure that:

  • Our reserves are well managed for the benefit of future generations
  • We review the trustee appointments on a regular basis
  • Trustees are well informed about their responsibilities
  • We meet our legal obligations under the Te Ture Whenua Māori/Māori Land Act 1993 and the Māori Reservations Regulations 1994

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara has agreed to allocate some resources to the ongoing upkeep of the reserves.

All hapū members are invited to a meeting on the 12th November 2016 at 10am at Kearoa Marae to discuss re-establishing the Reserves Trusts as one entity.  We will be seeking members for the new Reserves Trust.

If you have any questions please contact Kataraina at the Runanga Office 07 343 7153 or nkntadm1n@xtra.co.nz.
