Te Arakari a Tūtānekai

Our first taonga pūoro wānanga in some time, Te Arakāri a Tūtānekai, brought Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuarā together at Tārewa Pounamu Marae for a day of learning, connection, and oro. From exploring the whakapapa of taonga pūoro to crafting our own kōauau from rimu and rātā, whānau shared mātauranga, laughter, and aspirations for the future.

In the early hours of 24 June 2022, Ahenata-May Daniels led a group of intrepid Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuara members who braved a Horohoro frost to climb to the ridge on our Te Oha farm to observe Matariki. Here is her story.
