Our first taonga pūoro wānanga in some time, Te Arakāri a Tūtānekai, brought Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuarā together at Tārewa Pounamu Marae for a day of learning, connection, and oro. From exploring the whakapapa of taonga pūoro to crafting our own kōauau from rimu and rātā, whānau shared mātauranga, laughter, and aspirations for the future.

It was my very first time stepping onto the atamira with Te Roopu Pakeke Kapa Haka o Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara at the Te Arawa Kapa Haka Regional Competition, and oh boy, was it a ride—a waka ride with a few rapids!
