Te Tohu Hāpori

The Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuarā Education Endowment Fund was established in memory of Raharuhi Pururu for his work in aiding the re-establishment of the hapū on its traditional lands at Horohoro from 1929 until his death in 1957.
Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuara is keen to invest in the future of the hapū by providing education grants to hapū members. The purpose of this fund is to assist students to achieve academic excellence at any University, Whare Wananga or Polytechnic in Aotearoa New Zealand. The guiding principle underlying the awarding of grants shall be that applicants must demonstrate a high level of academic performance and also a commitment to the development of Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuara.

The Education Grants are administered by Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kearoa Ngāti Tuara Charitable Trust. The Trust has partnership agreements with the Māori Education Trust, which provides additional funding for university students. Additional funding is also available for students attending Massey University, Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, and Auckland University of Technology – Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makaurau through partnerships with these institutions.
