Matariki mā Puanga 2025

Ka tangi nei au i taku tangi,

Ka heke nei aku roimata mō koutou kua wehea nei,

Kei ngā raukura o te pō haere ki a Pohutukawa, te kaikawe o ngā mate o te tau.

Ko Matariki ki runga, ko ngā uri o Ngāti Kearoa, Ngāti Tuarā ki raro!

I karapinepine ngā uri o NKNT ki te whakanui i a Matariki. Nau mai Matariki Nau Mai.

A beautiful gathering of our people to mark the rising of Matariki. Our hautapu was held on the whenua near the middle of the maunga. We had a great turnout and a supportive team that made sure we were safe. Ahenata-May Daniels was our lead facilitator with the help of Kataraina and the team the celebration and ceremony.

E mihi atu ana ki a Brooke Rogers for our kai, our kura whānau that arrive to join and be part of the kaupapa.

Our first taonga pūoro wānanga in some time, Te Arakāri a Tūtānekai, brought Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuarā together at Tārewa Pounamu Marae for a day of learning, connection, and oro. From exploring the whakapapa of taonga pūoro to crafting our own kōauau from rimu and rātā, whānau shared mātauranga, laughter, and aspirations for the future.
