Education Plan

The Rūnanga has developed an education plan. The purpose of the Education Plan is to capture the mātauranga of our koeke and disseminate this to our whānau.  We acknowledge that we are kaitiaki of the history, culture and knowledge of our hapū.

Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara Education Grants

This trust was established in memory of Raharuhi Pururu for his work in aiding the re-establishment of this iwi on its traditional lands at Horohoro from 1929 until his death in 1957.  Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara is keen to invest in the future of the hapū by providing education grants to hapū members.   The purpose of this fund is to assist students to achieve academic excellence at any University, Whare Wananga or Polytechnic in Aotearoa New Zealand.  The guiding principle underlying the awarding of grants shall be that applicants must demonstrate a high level of academic performance and also a commitment to the development of Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara.

Further information about the grants can be downloaded here: http://ngatikeangatituara.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/NKNT-Education-Grants-Application-Form-2024.docx  An information sheet can be downloaded here: http://ngatikeangatituara.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/NKNT-Education-Grants-Info-Sheet-2024.docx Please make sure you read the information provided on this sheet.
Please contact the Rūnanga Office if you have any questions regarding these grants.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara has established a charitable trust to support its aims of investing in the future of the hapū. Now, Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara wish to increase the fund so we are better able to provide education grants to hapū members. Individuals, whānau and land trusts or other organisations are invited to make contributions to the fund. These will be recorded and reported at each AGM of the Rūnanga.

Te Reo Māori Plan

Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara is committed to increasing the use of te reo Māori and to providing opportunities for all hapū members to improve their capability.  Weekly classes in te reo Māori are available and four intensive wānanga reo are offered throughout the year.

See the Pānui page or contact the Rūnanga office if you are interested.
